The Atmosphere at Embers

The environment at Embers is calm and has an ‘out of town’ feel. Just inside the front door stands a three and a half foot tall gold and copper rendering of The Embers ‘flame’ logo. To augment the western feel, genuine cowhide adorns the upper soffit and one cowhide panel hangs on the wall. The comfortable chairs have a leather lattice work back and complete that western flair. The entire restaurant features interesting photos taken of this area and of cowboys here and there. Jennifer found wonderful photos on the Internet taken by Jim Tunelt. She contacted him and used six of his photos that were matted especially for the Embers concept. Each picture is signed by the photographer and has its own story. Jim plans to visit Amarillo and Embers soon.

A vintage photo of Devil's Kitchen sits prominently on the west wall. Chad really wanted the photos to depict Amarillo and Amarillo people, so they were delighted to find the old Devil’s Kitchen photo in Jay Gaut’s office. Jennifer obtained the negative of the photo and surprised Chad with the framed photo for the seating area. Guests are enjoying looking at that old photo and finding folks they know in the shot. Chad thanks the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce for helping with the area photographs.
